Lu Cong was born in Shanghai, China in 1979. At the age of eleven he joined his parents in Muscatine, Iowa near the Quad Cities area. A graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in biology he moved to Denver, CO in 2000 with limited art training. In 2002 he burst onto the art scene with a series of exhibitions in Denver at the Denver Art Student's League and the Salon d 'Arts. He began exhibiting at the gallery in 2005 and has continued to exhibit nationally over the past fifteen years in select exhibitions and fairs. As an artist he is mainly self-taught. The undeniable power and strength of his compositions affects all who view his work. He was recently commissioned by Time Magazine to paint a portrait of author J.K. Rowling for their series of covers of 100 important women. He lives in Denver with his wife Laura and daughter.
