Don Sahli began showing professionally at the age of 15 in Taos. A plein air painter and teacher, Don uses color and temperature as tools to express form and emotion in his work. As a professional painter for over 40 years, he and his French box easel have traveled widely and his works have been exhibited in galleries across the country. The Sahli School of Art has offered classes and workshops for over 25 years. Impressionist, Luminist, Colorist, and Realist are used to describe Don's work. Don apprenticed with Sergei Bongart, and trained in the Russian School of Colorism. He cultivates and keeps the Russian tradition alive through his teaching and painting, cotinuing the legacy of Fechin, Gaspard, Bongart and other famous Russian-American artists who have influenced generations of American painters.
