Lewis Bryden is an artist mainly known for his landscapes of the Connecticut River valley and the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. He has built a solid reputation as a sensitive artist with a unique ability to depict nature's sincere moods in everyday settings. The fact that he can apply this skill to just about any subject or locale; including portrait art and landscapes of such diverse areas as Cuba, Alaska, and the Rocky Mountain West, is further proof that this fine artist's work deserves our attention.

It is rare these days to find a confident painter. Yet that is exactly what Lewis Bryden is; supremely confident in his understatement—never relying on the subject of his art to carry the painting. Absent in his work is the common over dramatization of most contemporary landscapes. He depends upon the patient viewer in a day and age when such audiences are rumored to have disappeared. Lewis Bryden's paintings bring pleasure on a daily basis, in small doses that accumulate with time. He has exhibited throughout North America since 1973 with over twenty solo exhibitions to his credit.
